May was a Very busy Month for USEmergAlerts. We moved into Tornado season, and unfortunately, it's started with devastating destruction. UEA Dispatchers & Admins have been monitoring the Weather Conditions, and have been Doing a Great job keeping the public informed via Paging, Social Media as well as Zello Communications on our USEmergAlerts Emergency Broadcast Network. We welcomed a New Admin to the Team. Paul-UEA09 - uea09@usemergalerts.org comes to us with a wealth of experience in weather emergencies and incident notification. Paul is the new UEA Weather Operations Coordinator in charge of monitoring weather conditions, Monitoring weather statements that are paged out for accuracy, as well as training, and working with the newly forming weather team for UEA. As of now we have 12 Dispatchers that have taken the weather training program, and are now registered with the Potter Network, as well as the NWS. As more of our dispatchers get trained, it brings a whole new perspective to weather emergencies, and we are hoping with this training, that we will be able to better the service to the community. UEA has also entered into a reciprocal agreement with 2 Not for Profit, Volunteer driven, Incident Notifications Services. Twin Cities Incident Page(TCIP) & National Emergency Alerts(NEA) Whether its UEA, NEA, TCIP, or even NEFA sending out alerts, the concept is the same. To keep people informed about whats going on around them.
Once again to all UEA dispatchers and Admins, you did a great job this month, and we hope to continue to build the Dispatch Program.
